Frequently asked questions - Question 55
55. Who or what is ICANN?

Please select from one of the following options.

  1. Using the Marlin store
You can register domain names at wholesale through our store. Either go to www.marlindomains.com and proceed through to the checkout or alternatively, login to your reseller account at www.marlindomains.com/manage and click on the Register New or New Subscription icons.

NOTE: You will be charged retail prices until you enter your login details in the check out process.
  2. Using your own reseller store
Just go to your reseller store (e.g. http://demo.dcreseller.com.au) and follow the prompts through to purchasing your new domain name or hosting subscription.

NOTE: You will be charged your retail prices until you enter your login details in the check out process.
  3. Using your reseller control panel
    1. Log in to your account at www.marlindomains/manage and click on Operation Director > Sales Manager > Customer Orders

      Customer Orders
    2. Click the Add new orders button. Choose your Account, desired Service Plan and Subscription Period. The other options can be left blank.
    3. Click Next then click the Place Order button.
    4. You must click the Open Order button to complete the process.

    NOTE:
    • This is the best option if you want to pay using your reseller credit.
    • The sub-account in which you place the order will still be invoiced using your retail pricing.

Protect your web presence
Have you considered registering your .com, .com.au, .net.au, .co.nz variants of your domain? The deciding factor usually depends on how serious you are about Protecting Your Online Value. Ask yourself whether it would disturb you if a competitor registered these domains? Our easy to use and reliable Web and Email Forwarding services allow you to point as many domains as you want to your website.

Web with benefits:
Another benefit of registering multiple domains is the greater probability of being located on Search Engine listings. An interesting fact is that many Search Engines now feature region specific searches. You can perform a generic search, or you can select the 'Search Australia Only' option.

How the search works is simple; an 'Australian Only' search may prioritise addresses that end in '.au'; a 'New Zealand Only' search may prioritise addresses that end in '.nz'. To guarantee your website is listed and accessed by both regions you will need to have both domain names registered.

In contrast to the above, neither the '.au' nor the '.nz' domains will stand a chance of competing against the '.com', or rather the TLD name space, if someone submits a generic search with no regions specified.

If you currently conduct business in other countries, or one day plan to expand then we recommend securing your country specific domains now.
